Off The Water

In addition to our water based activities, we also offer Mountain Biking, Orienteering, Archery and of course our custom team building exercises.
Mountain Biking
Where are the mountains in Redditch? Strictly speaking this should be described as off-road biking. We have a range of specialized bikes with full suspension, disc brakes and comprehensive gearing. We also provide the spray tops, gloves and helmets.
The terrain, although not extreme, can provide a challenge to bikers at all levels. With the help of our qualified instructors you could be bunny hopping or watching the bunnies hop along the trails of the Arrow Valley Park.
We also arrange day/ weekend long trips to other venues by prior arrangement
Orienteering
Orienteering is a sport which involves locating checkpoints in a given order using a map and compass. In its purest form it is a sport for athletes and is carried out against the clock.
At Youth Afloat we provide a taster of the sport, integrating it with team building and problem solving games. Throughout the beautiful Arrow Valley Park there is a network of permanent checkpoints.
These are combined in various routes to suit the skill, athleticism and age of the groups. Each group is supervised by one of our trained members of staff who is able to contact the Centre at any time by radio.
There is a course immediately adjacent to the centre and lake specifically for chair users.
Archery
Archery is one of the oldest pastimes in Britain and is great fun, it is well worth booking a session.
The governing body for archery is the Grand National Archery Society, (GNAS). All Youth Afloat staff are qualified as leaders.
Learning the art of firing an arrow in a safe and fun environment is very rewarding, so why not book a session.
